If the price of gas keeps going up, you will see more hybrids and EVS being sold. On the other hand if the price goes down these same people will go out and buy big gas guzzling SUVS and pickup trucks.

I wonder how the buy numbers compare to the lease numbers? Edmunds for example has loads of chatter regarding cost of leasing the Volt.

It's only a matter of time until electric vehicles are as common as gas powered cars.

Hybrid cars are a hit or miss. GM is struggling with the Volt while the Lincoln MKZ is doing very well as a hybrid compared to it's gasoline model. The car companies need to keep working on it to get it right.

I was on a waiting list in 2008 to get the Ford Escape hybrid. Gas prices fell and I had my hybrid. People snickered as I had given up a Jeep with a Hemi that only got 12 MPG with the hybrid achieving 32 MPG. I was glad I made the switch then and even more glad at todays gasoline prices. Time to quit complaining about the gas prices and time to make a change.

Penny wise and pound foolish with gas at $4. Now at $12.50 that's a different story.

This sounds like wishful thinking - they are still overpriced and range bound.

No matter where gas prices are it is too high! Yah you better have money for a Volt. Premium unleaded gas is required to run that uncertified smog producing engine. Only a federal credit available on that car.

I won't buy a foreign manufacturer's vehicle, but if I had the money I would buy a Volt in a NY minute.

This love affair won't last, once people get use to $5.00 a gallon gasoline.
